Why would Jesus avoid helping His closest friends? Didn’t He know that Lazarus was sick and dying? If us, we would be running to the situation before it was too late…
But with God, it’s never too late!
Jesus waited because He knew the plan. Lazarus would in fact die, and then rise again. The miracle here was not to be healing, but resurrection. God had something greater in mind that anyone could imagine.
Perhaps that is what’s happening in your life. Perhaps God is waiting for the moment when all hope is lost, until death has come. Perhaps He is planning a greater miracle than what you can imagine in your life! Do you have faith? Do you trust? Can you relax, not knowing the outcome because you know the One in charge of the outcome?
Sometimes things have to get worse, beyond hope, before God steps in. After all, that is the definition of a miracle! Miracles are by definition what happens when it is impossible, to late, beyond hope.
It is OK to trust beyond hope. That is faith. Our job is to hear, not rush to a conclusion. Not rush into action before seeking God’s will. First hear from heaven, then act in faith built by knowing.
Jesus walked, He did not run.
